Synopsis: After meeting a friend for drinks, our unnamed narrator takes the reader on a drunken odyssey, recalling the relationship with his last great love – Matylda.

I wrote departures as a way to explore the use of dialogue in the prose form. It has been called ‘darkly comic’ – which is understandable, but I still maintain that the irony and comedy only serve to highlight its romantic core. The bad language helps too.
